Responsible packaging goes beyond recycled cardboard

Since responsible design is in our company’s DNA, it goes without saying we incorporate it in our packaging expertise as well and take it beyond recycled cardboard. The urgency of responsible packaging, driven by the European Green Deal, has transformed it from a future vision into a vital element of strategic planning. This shift presents a clear call to action: adapt and innovate or risk obsolescence.

Our view on responsible design

Recycling

We rethink materials, because working with mono-material packaging (e.g. glass, aluminium, cardboard, PE, etc.):

  • saves costs
  • simplifies recycling
  • improves operational efficiency
For example: together with Lathouwers we considered material options for their potato packaging. We took cost, efficiency and recyclability into consideration. LDPE was in this case the chosen solution..

Reusing

We can’t keep pulling oil from the ground to make single-use plastic, we need to reuse wherever possible. Together with FOST PLUS, a client of ours, we can help map out all the packaging options to reduce single-use plastics. For example: glass containers can be easily reused by consumers as containers for jam, overnight oats, storage, candle holders…

Reducing

In our product design process, we factor in future transportation considerations, seamlessly integrating packaging into the overall product design. This can result in avoiding unnecessary materials and decreasing environmental footprint, which is the foundation of circular design. For example: Brauzz uses reusable bottles and refills, resulting in decreased packaging waste.
