Physiotech & Orthopedics

Orthopaedic products as well as physiotech are designed to solve medical problems in the most efficient manner, improving the lives of both patients and physicians. However, designing such devices sure does come with several challenges: minimising costs while gaining the best results for the end-user, sustainability, durability, flexibility towards future changes, etc.

To tackle these challenges it’s crucial to not only design for manufacturing from the very beginning, but also to pay enough attention to prototyping and making sure your idea meets all the necessary requirements. It is a journey that begins with a deep understanding of the end user’s needs and evolves into the creation of a prototype that embodies the solution to those needs.

Other important things to consider:

  • Integration of (new) technologies such as AR/VR, A.I. and machine learning
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Sustainable design

How we can help you with your orthopaedic product or physiotech?

As a design & innovation agency highly skilled in healthcare products we are committed from the early design concepts to the final prototype and beyond. We can help you identify the best materials to create your medical device, while making sure everything is easily manufactured and patients or professionals are comfortable using the device.

Award-winning prosthetics

Take the Lunaris ankle-foot prosthetics of Axiles Bionics for example. We translated the revolutionary technology of the company into an actual product: accurate but smooth assembly without compromising its design and appearance. Since prosthetics are worn by people, we wanted to step away from the traditional orthopaedic, clinical perspective and go for a more emotional, human approach. Together, we found harmony between manufacturability, design and human-centred approach. The Lunaris was awarded the Henry van de Velde Award in 2024

ISO 13485 Certified

A usable product is a compliant product. Our processes strictly adhere to IEC 62366 standard for usability engineering which supports manufacturers in building medical devices with high usability and user safety. In addition, our designs meet the ISO 13485 standard for quality management.
